To help provide the sense of security you and your family might need now or in the future, Prudential offers a variety of personal protection plans. We offer programs that provide income protection for you and your dependents as either core benefits (no cost to the employee) or as voluntary programs. Recognizing that each of us may have different needs when it comes to life insurance and protection plans, we offer multiple choices, such as:
Life Insurance Programs
Basic Group Life Insurance is a core benefit that provides life insurance coverage of one time your eligible earnings, up to $300,000.
Group Universal Life Insurance (GUL) is a voluntary benefit paid for with after-tax dollars. It combines life insurance with a voluntary cash accumulation fund (GUL Fund). You may elect term life coverage or one to nine times eligible earnings—up to a maximum of $2,000,000. The GUL Fund is designed for optimal protection by building cash value that is income-tax-deferred. Participants in the GUL Fund have the option of contributing up to 10 times their contribution for Group Universal Life Insurance.
Dependent Term Life Insurance is a voluntary benefit paid for with after-tax dollars. It provides a benefit, payable to you, should one of your dependents die. The program pays a maximum benefit of up to $250,000 for your spouse or domestic partner and $10,000 for each of your children.
Accident Insurance Programs
Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance is a core benefit that provides insurance protection if you die or suffer a serious injury as the result of a covered accident. Basic AD&D coverage is equal to your Basic Group Life Insurance coverage amount (one time eligible earnings, up to $300,000).
Supplemental Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance is a voluntary benefit paid for with after-tax dollars. It gives you the opportunity to supplement your protection under Basic AD&D. You may enroll for coverage from one to nine times eligible earnings, up to a maximum of $2,000,000. Supplemental AD&D is also available for eligible family members.
Business Travel Accident Insurance is a core benefit that provides protection in case of serious injury or death while traveling on company business. The maximum benefit is 10 times eligible earnings, up to a maximum of $1,000,000.
Short Term Disability (STD) is a core benefit (for eligible full-time employees) that provides 25 weeks of income protection in the event that you're unable to work due to sickness or injury.
Long Term Disability (LTD) is a core benefit (for eligible full-time employees) that provides the equivalent of 50% of your monthly eligible earnings should you remain disabled after STD benefits have been exhausted.
Optional Long Term Disability (OLTD) is a voluntary benefit paid for with after-tax dollars. You may elect a 65% OLTD option (when combined with the core LTD benefit provides that percentage of your monthly eligible earnings).
The LegalCare Program is a voluntary benefit paid for with after-tax dollars. It provides free legal advice from the Preventive LegalCare Office, as well as scheduled benefits to help pay for legal fees charged by an attorney.
